Greetings to everyone!

Four months into the year and the list of things we want to share starts to grow!

Promoting Responsible Tourism

  • We are excited to announce that Malaysia Airlines are once again supporting our Responsible Tourism Awards. They'll be flying our assessment teams out to our finalists for those all-important site visits.

  • Calling for speakers for our Responsible Tourism Seminar to be held in October this year. If you have an interesting paper to present or would like to share your experience of Responsible Tourism contact us at RT@wildasia.net for more details. Our three core themes for this year are: Recognising Good Practices in Responsible Tourism, Green Technology & Knowledge and Understanding Tourism Concerns.

  • Wild Asia presented on our RT Initiative at the 2nd International Conference on Responsible Tourism held in Cochin, Kerala, India last month. The conference reviewed progress on RT since the last conference in 2002 and produced a common declaration on the state of the responsible tourism movement in the world. The conference was organised by the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) based at the UK's Leeds University and Kerala Tourism.

Corporate Responsibility

This month has seen us involved with running several important training workshops that have ranged from Responsible Tourism, Making Sense of RSPO to Corporate Responsibility. This is a very good start and is something we will be doing more of in the coming months. Its all part of our strategy to raise awareness of sustainability issues amongst different corporate bodies, from the media, travel-related professionals to financial advisors.
